The scene: a Hertfordshire village

Doorbell: Rinnnnng!
Poodle: Mummy, what was that parcel the postman just gave you?
Me: (too groggy from recent tussles with insomnia to come up with any kind of lie, whether convincing to a nine-year-old or otherwise) That was Mummy's author copies of two anthologies she's got stories in.
Poodle: Can I read them?
Me: Er, no, they're grown-up stories.
Poodle: So what happens in them?
Me: (long silence)
Poodle: Mummmmm-eeee!
Me: Er... two people meet, and fall in love.
Poodle: Oh. (pause) So can I read them?
Me: Isn't it time you got dressed now? (Hides parcel hastily in hopes it will soon be forgotten)


Well, anyway, I was as chuffed as a chuffed thing to see this review of Sindustry Vol I - with my story as one of the ones singled out for comment! *tries to squee quietly*
