*squeezes you tight, and takes a look at their B&N page* How strange: Volume 1 is showing as available for pre-order, available July 28th, but volume 2 is out now. *bounces at thought of being available in a real proper online bookstore* :D
I saw the Angels and Demons call from Samhain - but 20-30k is a lot longer than I have been writing lately (ie, since I started doing original stuff) and I know from experience I tend to get tangled up in knots if I try to go longer. I'd like to do longer pieces, and in fact I've been working, on and off, on a werewolf novella that's up to *checks* - well, blow me, it's up to 20k already. But it's been stalled there for quite a while, probably because every time a new anthology call comes out I think Oooh, shiny! and go and write something short for that.
The other problem is that writing about angels is about the one area where I start to get religious scruples (although I haven't tried writing about priests yet - I think that might cause the same reaction). I have in fact written and submitted a short story for a different Angels and Demons anthology, but it turned out very religious (and didn't, strictly speaking, have any angels in it, despite the title, which was Angel).
Demons don't seem to be such a problem, but I think to be honest I'd rather work on my series about Rael! Which, yes, is already up to 28k, but in easy, bite-sized chunks, which is probably not what they want! (and I've sent the first one in to Torquere, in any case)
Are you thinking of writing something for the Samhain call?
