And yep, I trembled as I clicked on the link!. But, with Alex Beecroft's splendid example of taking something positive away from a review even if someone hated your story, I gritted my teeth and clicked.

It's a review of Sindustry Vol 1, so at least I wasn't facing it alone! And yes, there are some pretty forthright opinions expressed which I know not everyone will agree with. But I was tickled pink to read this about my story, As Beauty Does: Great story, fabulous characterization... I especially love the use of the characters’ own language choices and words to indicate who they are and how they feel *beams*

And I was even more tickled pink (tickled crimson?) to read what they had to say about my own favourite story from the anthology, Lenore Black's Fun and Games, which was the reviewer's favourite too. :D

*yawn* Who me? The kids get up at 6:20 so I get up a little earlier to make sure we have lunches and everything organized. My husband leaves at 5:30 so I have him wake me as he goes. Then I can also take a few minutes to check my email and stuff.

Gawd, it was grim in places though, wasn't it? But like Alex, I can take note, lick my wounds and come away unscathed :). Congrats on a good response to yours - it was a great story.

Mmm, I did wince at parts... I've been lucky enough (or more likely, have not been writing long enough) not to get a scathing review, but I have had stuff rejected with reasons given. And whilst one of these was a kick-yourself moment, as tbh it was something I'd worried over myself (so why the bloody hell didn't I fix it instead of hoping they wouldn't notice), others have been a definite learning experience as they were things I hadn't even thought of. Like the second-person thing - I had no idea until recently how much people hate that! ;)

I have to say that your story, As Beauty Does, and Lenore's story, Fun and Games made the anthology worth buying, if they hadn't been part of it, I would have felt totally cheated! I'm eagerly anticipating more from both of you, I have read and re-read your story many times and I can hear Stephen in my head-he was hilarious. Can't wait for another story from you-any possibility of a full length novel? Congrats on the review, Jen

No full length novels yet, alas! I'm trying to work up to it: I have a couple of novellas on the go at the moment which I'll keep everyone posted on!

Just updated my profile page which has details of all upcoming stories, although sadly lacking in release dates at the mo.
